About Our Location and Community
Quick Lane at Conerstone Ford is located at 17219 US-10, Elk River, Minnesota 55330, at 171st Ave NW. We proudly serve the Elk River, Monticello, Otsego, Dayton, Ramsey, Nowthen and Twin Cities regions.
Elk River is a city in Minnesota located approximately 35 miles northwest of Minneapolis at the convergence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers. The area has blossomed to approximately 25,000 residents due to the easy transportation routes. US-10, US-169 and State Highway 101 are easily accessible, as well as a station on the Northstar Commuter Rail with direct access to downtown Minneapolis. Although the area was first named by Zebulon Pike during his 1805 expedition, the city was not officially incorporated until 1977.
The area is surrounded by coarse hills, making farming unattractive, but turning gravel mining into a major industry for the region. Although Elk River was home to the first rural nuclear power plant in 1960, the plant was never intended to be permanent and was dismantled after several successful years in operation. In the late 1980’s, Great River Energy’s (GRE) power plant was converted to a refuse-derived fuel. That innovative energy source was one of the factors that led the Minnesota Environmental Initiative to coin the city “Energy City” in 1997.
Elk River provides a small town feel with big city convenience a short trip away. One of the top things to do in downtown Elk River is to explore its downtown murals. The first mural was commissioned in 1991 by Bud Houlton for buildings on the south side of Main Street (circa 1960). Murals were then added in 2001 by a grant and the Three Rivers Community Theater. The “whimsical windmill” was also added after it was chosen as the winner of the Elk River Powered by Nature River Contest.
ERX Moto Park is a year-round popular stop for outdoor motorsport enthusiasts and others. The Park hosts motocross and snowmobile races, as well as, concerts, corporate events, monster trucks, rodeo and more.
Elk River Furniture and Things Arena is located near Elk River High School. It offers two indoor hockey and ice skating rinks with five team dressing rooms, a 30,000 square foot filedhouse with baseball and softball cages, walking track and senior center and multipurpose space for small art and crafts fairs.
Elk RiverFest is a popular annual event that tales place around the 4th of July holiday. It features kid’s activities, vendors booths, food alley, Sips on Main Street, live music and fireworks.
Wild Woods Indoor Water Park is action packed fun for the whole family. Located adjacent to the Holiday Inn Minneapolis NW Elk River, the park includes a 30,000 square foot water center with a lazy river, activity pool with basketball, children’s playland and four-story water slides.
